Real Girl: Natasha
Age: 13 Grade: 7 Sign: Pisces
Faves: My favourite colour is purple for now but it changes often! I love to eat Fettuccini Alfredo, listen to music (I have hundreds of songs on my iPod and somehow know the lyrics to almost all of them by heart. The songs that pop out in my mind right now that are usually in my head are: 'All I Do is Win' by dj khaled, 'Shiver' by Shawn Desman, 'Break your Heart' by Taio Cruz and 'Dancing with Tears in My Eyes' by Ke$ha), and travel (just this March Break I went to the Dominican Republic in a town called Cabarate near Puerto Plata and had a BLAST. I got to swim with the dolphins, go on a safari and just relax which was AMAZING!). My favourite people are my parents because they have a huge influence in my life and I love them to death. Also, like any girl, I love my friends: Renée, Sophie, Haley, Jamie, Kari, Aimee, Melanie, Micha, Danielle, Dakota, Eden, Emelie, Emilie and Holly (just to name a few). My favourite TV shows are 'The Vampire Diaries', 'Survivor', 'CSI', 'NCIS' and 'Law and Order'. I like winter the best of all seasons because it isn't all muggy and I love to ski and HATE bugs! My favourite holiday is Halloween because it's fun to dress up and hang out with my friends.
Hobbies: I love to hang out with my friends. I am not usually a reader but I am currently reading 'The House of Night' series by PC and Kristen Cast and I can barely put it down. I am almost always on the computer because I have some friends that live far away so we can't always hang out.
School and Stuff: Well, I go to a French school in Ontario and high school starts there in grade 7 so I already have my own locker, 4 different teachers and so on. It took a lot of getting used to at the beginning but now I'm getting around just fine. My favourite subject is probably Art even though I've never been the best drawer or actor. Art and Gym are all-girls classes so my good friends that are in the other class get to be with me. I've always seen both sides to school because if it wasn't for school, I wouldn't have met the great people that I now call friends. Some days when I'm tired and want to sleep, I know I can't because of school. Also, I know so much more now thanks to learning at school and it sometimes depends on the teacher's way of teaching the lesson for how well I understand. If we just read a textbook for the whole period it's not as interesting as when he/she gets us involved and puts it in game form.
Personality: Well, anyone that knows me well thinks I'm crazy, almost always smiling, always having something nice to say, being bubbly and energetic.
Life Challenge: I've never been through anything as bad as some of the other Real Girls, but for me, my life challenge is fitting in. For months I've always been that girl that stands there feeling invisible while everyone talks about all the sleepovers/birthday parties that I wasn't invited to. After a while it hurts but the worst is when you leave and they don't even notice you're gone. It made me feel extremely upset and like I was worthless. It was hard in class always sitting alone because the people who I thought were my friends were sitting with other people. After a while I finally had enough so I spoke up for myself. Sadly, most of them denied it but I realized that they weren't my true friends. Now I hang out with people that I know are good friends because I can actually talk to them and they will listen. For anyone else who is going through this, my advice to you is to talk to the people who are doing that to you. If they apologize and try to correct it well then they're your true friends and maybe they honestly did not know how you were feeling. If they deny it and don't even make an effort, maybe they aren't your true friends after all. Also, I live in a town where most of the residents are military so I can never keep friends for that long. Most of them move around (my dad works at AECL and my mom at a school so we probably won't move. My parents have been in the house we have now for 20 years). If your friends do move, I would say to exchange emails so you can keep in contact with them. When new ones come in, you will have even MORE friends. It's hard at the beginning but it gets better.
Proud of: Well of course I am proud of being chosen for this magazine! I am proud of my grades this year and I am proud of always being myself and having people like me for that.
So Natasha: Never wearing makup except for Dance competitions, wearing flashy colours, being in love with the name brand 'Bench', saying "like" in a lot of my sentences, getting up early on the weekends, trying to sleep in on weekdays, and dancing hip hop, jazz and Acro are sooooo ME!
Cool fact about Natasha: I am 100% bilingual because my dad is French first and I get my English through my mom since she is an E. A. (educational assistant) at an English school on base.
Future: I don't have that great of an idea of what I want to do with my future, but I would like to travel the world and go to University. My mom believes that I would be a good Engineer or Teacher but I really have no clue yet what I want to do with my life.
Pet Peeves: I hate it when you're talking to someone about something and someone else just barges in and changes the subject!
