REAL GIRL SISTERS VICTORIA & EVELYN
Meet GCDA’s February cover girls: twin sisters Victoria and Evelyn. Do they look identical to you? They’re not. They are fraternal twins and are very different in many ways.
Victoria is older than Evelyn by 4 minutes. “I feel like the big sister sometimes,” says Victoria, “because Evelyn’s a little more shy.”
BEING A TWIN
One thing they agree on is how frustrating it is when people ask them if they’re twins. Evelyn says, “It happens almost every day wherever we go and it can sometimes get annoying. On the other hand, I'm never lonely because I always have my sister to talk to.”
Both girls remember being in early grade school and switching classes for a whole day without the teachers noticing. “Eventually our friends would find out and start laughing, and the teacher would make sure they had the right twin whenever we visited each others' classrooms.” remembers Victoria.
“My teacher had a good sense of humor.” Says Evelyn, “He allowed Victoria and I to switch up classes. I remember sitting at Victoria's desk having no idea what to do with her work for an hour and nobody noticed. Later some close friends in Victoria's class could tell who I was and gave it away!”
SAME or DIFFERENT?
Even though they are twins, they have very different personalities. They share many of the same interests and friends, but they each have a different best friend. They are in different classes at school and they haven’t dressed the same since grade 3 which was when their parents used to dress them in the same outfits but different colours. They used to do hip hop together and now wish they did more things like that, but separately. Like most sisters, sometimes they fight a lot and other times they are best friends.
MEMORIES...
Here are two cute stories from when they were babies. One time their mom caught Victoria when she got out of her own crib and then pushed Evelyn out to escape with her. Another time the two of them accidentally called 911 when they were playing with the phone and the police actually came to the door while their mom was in the shower! The cops pounded on the door because they thought something was wrong. Of course when their mom came out in a towel they knew everything was fine and they tried to tell the girls not to play with the phone!
