Getting Your Perfect Fit

getting your perfect fitHave you ever tried to find that perfect pair of jeans or a really cute top that actually fits? Can’t understand why skinny jeans look great on your BFF but not on you? Don’t get frustrated with fashion; get familiar with your figure! We’re all built differently and that’s what makes us uniquely beautiful. When you accept your body just the way it is you will instantly look and feel fabulous!

Here are some simple rules to help you get your perfect fit. First and foremost, buy your correct size. Don’t feel pressure by a tag number – it’s not what defines you and besides, has anyone ever said to you ‘That’s a great top, what size is it?’

When trying on your clothes in a store, don’t just stand there... Move!
Things may look great standing still, but will they still be comfortable as you go about your day? Sit, crouch down, cross your legs, raise and fold your arms. How does it feel? How does it look? You don’t want to be adjusting all day long.

Remember ladies, sometimes fashion isn’t your friend.
It’s fun to see what celebrities are wearing and what’s ‘in’ for the season, but that doesn’t mean it’s in for you! Don’t get too caught up in what everyone else thinks is ‘perfect’. Wouldn’t you rather look great in something that fits, than look silly in something that’s ‘in’ and doesn’t fit?

Skirt lengths!
If you’re tall, you can get away with calf or full-length skirts. Everyone else may choose to keep it to the knee or shorter. A shorter skirt appears to elongate the legs. When going shorter though, be sure you can safely bend over to pick up something on the ground without exposing yourself... Yikes!

Smaller bust?

You can just about wear them all! Choose higher necklines, smaller V’s, crew, cowl necks, etc. You can get away with the ruffled necklines and gathers between the bust that your fuller busted sisters may choose to avoid.

Fuller bust?

Choose open necklines (V, scoop, boat, sweetheart, etc.) if you wish to minimize a large bust. Be careful not to be too revealing or you'll acheive the opposite! Wrap-tops and empire waists that sit under the busts are very flattering aswell and fashionable.

Bra colour!

A detail to remember is to ensure your bra colour isn’t darker than your top, and that the padding or lace of it doesn’t show through. Nude tones are a good solution.

Fuller on the bottom?

If you don’t want to draw attention there, then avoid bold patterns and colours, back-pockets with embellishments, and stay away from cuts that are too low on the bum. Boot-cut and wide-leg are best and so are simple A-line skirts that don’t cling tightly to the hips.

Narrow hips?

To add more curves go for high flap pockets on your pants and skirts. Choose lighter colours and fuller skirts. Pleating, ruffles and layers work for you.

Got ‘muffin-top’?

Either your pants are too tight or the ‘rise’ isn’t right for you. The top of your pants or skirts should sit comfortably just below your belly button. Not super tight! Higher gives some girls a ‘Buddha Belly’ and lower reveals too much when you sit or crouch down. Not cool!
