Tidy Tips
for cleaning your room

Clothes - Take Inventory
GET RID OF THEM! No, not all of them; the ones you never wear. Go have an honest dig through your tanks and tees and jeans and sweaters. Fold them up and donate them to a friend or charity. Make a new rule from now on: what ever gets added to your closet, the same number of items are taken out and given away. Honestly, how much do you need?

Clothes - Separate Them
Divide them up and store them that way. Shirts and skirts: hang them, sweaters and jeans: fold them for their own drawers, socks and underwear: these need their own space. Either their own drawer, a basket, or a crate. A cool underwear trick is to cut tissue rolls in half and stand them up across the bottom of a drawer. Then, just roll up your undies and tuck them individually into a roll. It’s tidy and you won’t have to dig to find the ones you’re looking for.

Makeup and Accessories
This stuff can get messy pretty fast. One of the coolest things I’ve seen are cosmetic cases with different compartments to separate all your items. And if you’re looking for a less expensive alternative, go to your local hardware store and buy a plastic tool box or fishing tackle box - I swear - they are cheaper and they have all kinds of cool sections and compartments. You can store your lip glosses, eye makeup, sharpeners, and even your jewelry. When you get ready in the morning, pull it out from under your bed and everything you need is all there.

Desk Stuff
Pens, stapler, paper scraps and so on... what to do with all this? If you don’t have enough drawers to separate everything into their own places, use decorated shoe boxes or one of those neat new rolly cabinets that have several skinny drawers.

Best Tip

Find a place for everything and try your best to always put it back in the same place, right away.
