5 Minute Fixes
for Bedroom Bliss

Feeling overwhelmed or intimidated on tackling your whole room? Try some of these quick and easy ways to get started. A few minutes each day can make the world of a difference on how tidy your room is, how it feels and how it functions.

PICK IT UP
Pick up your clothes, shoes, scarves and accessories. Nothing makes your room look messier or more cluttered than clothes on the floor, dresser, under the bed, on your nightstand… you get the idea. Pick them up and put them away. Everything in your room should have a purpose (reason to be there) and a location (place to go) If you don’t need it or have room for it… get rid of it!

MAKE YOUR BED
Yes, and I mean EVERY DAY! Rumpled and messy beds create a cluttered chaotic look. It only takes a minute to do, but you’d be amazed at how much better your room feels because of it. Don’t like pulling up and tucking in the sheets, blankets and comforter? Get a duvet! One flip and fluff and it’s done! Adding a few decorative pillows will make your bed look good and more inviting. It always feels good to get into a nicely made bed at the end of a long day and it only takes a minute to do.

TAKE OUT THE TRASH
Is your wastebasket overflowing from all your snack wrappers, crumpled papers, old makeup, socks with holes?? Clean it out each week! It only takes a minute, and while you’re at it, take a quick scan of your room and see what else can go. If you throw a few things out each week that you don’t need or use, you’ll avoid a big mess in the future.

NIGHT TABLE CLEAR OFF
They’re convenient, but night tables often become clutter magnets very quickly. Water glasses, pictures, books, jewelry, tissues, books and more… easily pile up. Clear it all off, give it a wash and wipe down and decide what REALLY needs to be there. Only keep the items you’ll need beside you when you’re in bed. Your alarm clock, tissue box, current book, glasses etc.

LAUNDRY NIGHTMARES
Don’t wait for laundry day. Have a hamper in your room and actually USE it! It’s just as easy to throw your dirty socks on the floor as it is to throw them in the hamper. Get in the regular habit of taking your laundry down and doing it. If you’re fortunate enough to have your mom or dad do the laundry, they’ll appreciate that it’s in the laundry room without having to nag at you. Doing laundry frequently and putting it away as soon as it’s done will ensure you have that favourite t-shirt or pair of jeans clean and ready when you want it.

DRAWERS AWAY
Pick a drawer, any drawer… pull hard… can you get it open?? Stuffed dressers drawers make getting ready harder and longer. Start by cleaning out one at a time. Sort as you pull items out. Stained, torn or stretched out items go into the trash. The ones you never wear, hate how they look on you, don’t like the colour or pattern or don’t match anything else in your wardrobe can be donated. The rest that you love, that make you feel pretty and fit well can go back in the drawer. Fold them neatly and you’ll have less wrinkles and be able to find that perfect shirt quickly and easily. Still feeling inspired? Grab another drawer and do the same thing! You’ll love being able to see what you have and know what you need when you can see the good stuff without all the junk cluttering your view.

Taking a few minutes each day to put things away, sort and throw out and organize your space will make your room feel better and work better for you. This is YOUR space, make it nice!
