Real Girl: Jess

Age: 16 Grade: 11 Sign: Virgo
Faves: My favourite colour is red, I love peanut butter and Iced Caps from Timmies :) I like a lot of different types of music like Billy Talent, Rise Against, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry and my favourite instrument is the drums. My favourite TV show is Gossip Girl and my fave movie is the Notebook.
Hobbies: My favourite hobbies are playing the drums and cheerleading. I really like going to Starbucks with my friends and I actually love my job at Walmart! I enjoy reading books, Cosmo magazines and traveling to new places. I really want to learn how to snowboard because I love the snow when it’s not too cold :)
School and Stuff: Grade 11 is one of the hardest years so far for school and homework. I really have to focus even though I hate doing my homework! Math is my least fave subject but I love English. I have been on the Honour Roll since grade school but this year might be close! A great part of school is that I am a Fly on the cheerleading team, which is so fun. I am really looking forward to my last year in high school next year though, and I can't wait till it’s over :P
Personality: I think my family and friends would say I am very strong, responsible, confident and funny. I like to have lots of fun and I’ve learned that what other people think doesn’t matter as long as I’m happy with who I am. I like to think I am trustworthy and compassionate; I’m nice, I accept almost everyone and I have an open heart to new things and people.
Life Challenge: Hmm I think my biggest life challenge is just being 16. I’ve been through so many things this past year, so many things have happened and lots has changed for me. This year I went through a heartbreak, I had to start thinking seriously about my future, and I struggled with deciding who I am. 16 seems like the close to the end of my teenage years and one of the last chances I have to just have fun living without too many responsibilities. I wish I would have realized that sooner because I wasted a lot of time worrying about little things. The heartbreak I went through I think was the worst though. I really thought that I loved him and that things were pretty good. I found out that he had cheated on me and I was crushed. I think when that happens you think that it was your fault, and that's how I felt. I thought that if I was good enough then he would have never done that. But when I look back, I can see that that’s stupid. I know it was not my fault and for any girl who has been through this or might some day, I would say, don't feel bad about yourself, it’s not your fault! Life will always move on and it will always get better. Love can always be found again and everyone deserves love. Always stay strong and get support. I felt like I was alone but I wasn’t and that experience only made me stronger. This motivated me to live my life, to choose only the best and to think about myself first. Never let someone bring you down because it’s not worth it.
Proud of: I am proud of how much I grew up in the last few years. I got a job for the first time a few months ago, I made more decisions for myself and I started taking things more seriously. I also took chances, and I usually never do that. For example I started playing drums because I have always been interested in playing and I never thought I would actually do it! I’m also proud of my family. Family means a lot to me and my family and I are really close. We love to joke around and have fun. I have a fraternal twin sister and as we get older we get even closer. She is my best friend and we share everything together. My family loves to travel and we can talk about anything, which I love!
So Jess: Eating peanut butter out of the jar, being a morning person, always having chapstick, doing things last minute, occasionally snorting when I laugh, and always listening to music in my room are soooo ME!
Cool fact about Jess: When I was in Kindergarten I wore a mouse costume to school, every winter I wait for the snow to fall a certain way, I am scared of any type of mascot and I don’t like foods to touch each other on my plate.
Future: In the future I hope to go to University and learn to become something in the entertainment industry; like behind the scenes at photo shoots or movies. I also want to have my own business, become a mom, travel a lot and live downtown Toronto. Right now I neeeeed to get my G1 (it’s 5 months past my 16th birthday :$) and I want to save up for my own car.
Pet Peeves: My pet peeves are wet socks and stale cookies.
