Ask a Girl: be any age, life at home, beauty to you, you in 20 years

ASK A GIRL, September 2008, by the CCLC

ASK A GIRL

If you could be any age for a week, what would it be?

Anonymous:
I would be 20 years old because you have so many privileges that you don’t have when you’re a teenager like driving, going to rated PG movies, traveling, and being treated as a young adult.
Kerry, 13: I would be 18.
Micheala, 14: I’d be 16 so I could drive myself and my friends places.
Anonymous: 18 then I wouldn’t have to go to school for a week – no homework!
Anonymous: 14 then I could get a job and make some money for the summer.
Anonymous: 19 then I could do what I want, maybe move out for a whole week.
Annette, 12: I would be 25 so I could be an adult with credit cards to travel all over the world and go to Disney where I would then be tall enough to do all the rides, and then I would go shopping for high heels! - I’m not allowed to wear them at my age.
Sylvie, 16: I would be 13 again so I could go back to my old summer camp and when it was the best week of my life!

What is life like at home for you?

Mina, 15:
I got it good. My parents give me lots of freedom and they trust me. I’m an only child and I wish I had siblings.
Anette, 12:
Awful.
Lanny:
I kinda have two older brothers. My real brother and I used to fight before the exchange student came, but now he’s more considerate towards me. My mom and I get along okay. I share my feelings and secrets with her most of the time. My dad and I aren’t really that close but we talk about stuff.
Maggy, 14:
Me and my sister fight all the time. I love my dog and my little brother though.
Trina, 13:
I have an annoying brother and me and my Mom get along really good now.
Sherry, 14:
I’m the oldest child, I have one younger sister. I spend a fair bit of time with my family, but not like a lot. I get along with my parents most of the time, but not always. I have a good home, but the way I act at home is so much different than not at home. Say if I’m in public, my parents won’t yell at me if I mess up until I get home. I guess my family life is pretty good. It has its ups and its downs.

What is beauty to you?

Jessica:
Beauty is singing along with your favourite song and adding your own special dance moves.
Marilyn:
Beauty is lying on the grass and letting the sun warm your body from the inside out.
Jen: Beauty is following your own style. It doesn’t really matter what the latest fashions are.
Karen: Beauty is happiness. Laughing uncontrollably until your sides hurt and the tears are falling from your eyes.
Michaela: Beauty is wearing your favourite pair of shoes until there are holes in them.
Dorothy: Beauty is whatever makes you feel good on the inside. Being happy on the inside shines and makes your whole body sparkle.
Michelle: Beauty is accepting you – for your weaknesses and strengths. Beauty is challenging limitations and conquering them.
Amanda: Beauty is natural and not covering yourself up with makeup.
Joanne: Beauty is not ever caring what anyone else thinks!

Where will you be 20 years from now?

Emma, 12:
The best thing that could happen is that I could be a fashion designer or singer.
Chelsea: I will be a nurse and be married with 2 kids, live in a nice house  with a dog and a cat. We would travel to exotic countries every year.
Susan, 13: I will be working as a lawyer and living in a downtown penthouse, with rooftop pool. I would volunteer my free time to help children, maybe even be a counselor. I would like to have a special guy that I would get married to and have 1 child.
Heather-Ann, 13: In 20 years I hope I would see myself happy and healthy, doing something I love, and of course being a top journalist!
Robyn, 14: In the future, 20 years away I will be a Social worker helping kids the best I can. Also I will have 2.5 kids, a house with a picket fence and a loving husband.
Sylvie, 16: You’ll see me accepting my Oscar for another one of my lead movie roles.
Anonymous: I will be traveling around the world with my family helping people in need.
