Twilight, by Stephenie MeyerWhen Isabella Swann moves from sunny Phoenix to Forks, Washington to live with her dad, all she's expecting to find is rain and a whole lot of greenery. Well, she ends up finding a whole lot more. Sitting in the lunchroom on her first day at Forks High, ‘Bella' catches the eye of the extremely beautiful Edward Cullen. She can't help but wonder about him and his mysterious siblings, who sit by themselves, hardly talk, and never eat. When Edward appears to hate her for no apparent reason, Bella becomes even more fascinated. It isn't long before she discovers that she is not only falling in love, but the object of her affections and the rest of the Cullens are vampires…

Twilight has quickly become a world-wide sensation, with the latest book in the series bumping the final Harry Potter off its number one spot on bestseller lists. Girls (and guys!) have fallen in love with Bella's journey, with fan girls everywhere flocking to book signings.

FUN FACT: first-time writer Stephenie Meyer admits that the idea for Twilight came to her in a dream. The rest, as they say, is history!

THE GOOD: There is a whole lot to love about this book! Firstly, Twilight contains some of the most lovable characters that I have ever encountered; in the form of the Cullens. They make you want to smile every time you read about them, and it's like they take the reader into their family as quickly as they do Bella. Stephenie Meyer has done a great job of keeping the reader wondering what new secrets this unlikely family holds, and discovering who they really are, along with Bella. Bella is also a great character. She's pretty shy, has some trouble making friends, but is awesome at the same time. Definitely a girl you'd want to be friends with. Meyer has also come up with some of the coolest vampire mythology I have every read about. Unlike most vampire books out there, her vampires are most certainly NOT good. In fact, they're downright nasty. Then how, do you ask, is Bella hanging out with Edward? Well, the Cullens are, as they put it, vegetarian. They've given up human diets for animals, which can sometimes be a little hard. Meyer has made this part of the story so interesting that I feel that if there really are vampires out there, they would certainly be like these ones.

DOWNSIDE: One thing that kind of bugged me about Twilight was the romance. Not that it wasn't awesome, but there are a few of those "I would die without you!" moments. I know that love isn't always like that, so it kind of got on my nerves a little bit. We don't want every teenage girl waiting for a gorgeous seventeen-year-old vampire to come along before she falls in love. So if you're feeling a little cynical and not in the mood for romance, I'd save Twilight for another day. I also find that Bella can be a little annoying, but what teenage girl isn't sometimes?

GENRE: Twilight is fiction and definitely supernatural romance.

AGE: 13 and up for violence and gore.

OTHER BOOKS: Need more Twilight? Don't despair! Bella and Edward's story is continued in New Moon and then Eclipse, with Breaking Dawn coming out in August ‘08. For older readers, Stephenie Meyer is coming out with an adult science fiction novel called The Host. Want more vampires? Try out Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz and The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause.

RATING: 2 Thumbs Up!

Heads up! Twilight is currently being made into a movie, starring Kristen Stewart (Panic Room and The Messengers) and Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire).

I absolutely LOVE Twilight! I have all the books and the movie, and i can't wait until New Moon comes out in theatres! i don't agree with the downside, i think that people do find a love like that, and there's nothing wrong with that. Yes, alot of us wish we had our own Edward Cullen, but we all know that it's only a book, we are old enough to understand that! I don't think Bella is annoying, i think she's just Bella! I personally love Stephenie Meyer's work, and i am excited to start reading the Host!

i would think that this book is just... okay. because since it is in the narrator's perspective, you can't get a understanding for the charaters. also, there are ALOT of other books with the same story line that are writtten waaay better. for example, my friend said that the givinchy code, was the same sorta story line and it had much more edge of your seat reading. i dissagree with jenny's rating, i'd give this book a rating of a half of a thumb up. i disagree with jenny's downside reveiw, first, not ALL tennagers will think they'd want to give up their life for a guy and in Twilight, it's just different. It's hard to explain but if you read it theere is a huge difference between a average guy and girl going out and a queit girl and a VAMPIRE. Also, i dissagree with the age reccommendation. 10 and up because first, it's not that scary. Edward is trying to PROTECT her, not kill her, and second, these days young people know alot of about vilolence and should know about because you can't just hide it forever and wham it on them at one age.

Okay, this book is overall AMAZING. The way Stephanie Meyer incorprets sci-fi, triller, action, and romance all in one is increddable. Once I read this book I just HAD to continue reading the rest!!!

Twilight is a great book about a 17 year old girl named Isabella Swan who meets a strange boy named Edward Cullen in her biology class. Later on she finds out he's a vampire! They fall deeply in love and can't stay away from each other any more. But isn't dating a vampire dangerous? Definitely. That's the problem. But what's the solution? Splitting up can't be the answer. What do they do to work this out? Thumbs up: 2

If you're like me, you don't care much for books that contain either suspense, vampires, fantasy, or romance, and certainly not a book that contains all of the four. As ironic as it is, though, Stephenie Meyer had me hooked with her suspense / vampire / fantasy / romance / all rolled into one / book. The plot is a somewhat precarious subject. Bella Swan moves to Forks to live with her dad while her mother and her mother's boyfriend travel across the USA. Bella starts off in the middle of the school year at Forks High School, the very place she first lays eyes on Edward Cullen and his family. The Cullens happen to be a very unique family: all of them are pale-faced, have constantly-changing-colour eyes, no appetite, are scarily graceful, and are remarkably beautiful. No one knows, except for a First Nations tribe near Forks, that the Cullens are vampires. One incident changes the way Bella will view the Cullens forever. Tyler, a fellow classmate of Bella, loses control of his van and is about to kill Bella when suddenly- Edward forces Bella out of the way and stops the van- with his bare hands. Bella clearly sees this display of inhuman strength as a chance to see what Edward really is, and blasts her into the Cullen's vampire world. I personally would not recommend you to start this book at bedtime. No, not because of nightmares, but because it will keep you up all night reading it! There are some ugly (as in gory) parts to the book, so I would say for ages eleven and up. Thumbs up: 1000

I thought the book Twilight was AMAZING! I loved it so much and i thought it was so well written. I really love the part when the Cullens are playing baseball and the bad vampires come. That waqs the best! This book is aimed at girls around 11 and up because of some mature content. Thumbs Up: 2

I totally give Twilight 2 thumbs up! I think it was exilerating and just an all around awesome book. But if any other author was writing that book, I do not think it would have been as good, therefore I think Stephenie Meyer made the book great. Curently I am on Eclipse, the thrid book in the saga. Twilight would be a book that I could read multiple times! Thumbs Up: two

Ahh. A good romance novel. With 498 pages, and an amazing plot line, this is one of my favourite books. Back in June 2008, I picked up this novel after hearing from a friend that it was the best book she had read. I thought that maybe she was over-reacting or making stuff up, but after I had read cover-to-cover, I knew what she was talking about. I was officially a 'twihard fanpire'. Twilight is one of the most moving books I have read in a long time. It kept me thinking about it long after I read the last page, because of the loving moments between Edward and Bella and the suspenseful twists. The characters are so vivid, so intense, that you feel like if you look up from the pages Bella or Edward or Alice is going to be staring at you, and I think this is key in a great story. One of my favourite things about Twilight is how normal this book seems, until you start reading it. I mean, vampires and human in love? Awesome! My final thoughts on this captivating novel are that this was a thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable book—I recommend it completely. It is definitely a book worth reading. Thumbs Up: 2

I thought Twilight was amazing. I have read a lot of great books, but Twilight is better than them all! It is totally not what you think. Everyone says it's the best book ever, and you think people are just saying that, but try reading it for yourself! I suggest for teens but I think very youngest should be 11 years old. Thumbs Up: 2

i thought it was great like the movie, maybe better. i read it twice (which took me 2 weeks) and didn't get bored with it. my friend read the wole series 4 times! i recommend the other books because they complete it better. Thumbs Up: 2

Personally I found the book ok. But it isn't one I would reccomend. I think the book goes way outta hand when a vampire falls in love with Bella. It is ovious what will happen if you see all of the flirting next step...Love. I only reccomend it to people who don't get bored in those kind of books about sappy love stories. But if you don't like love stories trust me on this one... it is not for you Thumbs Up: 1

I love Twilight!!!!!! Everyone at school is reading it, so I figured why not. I made a great choice! I've read all four books and can't wait until midnight sun (twilight from Edward's point of view) comes out! I love how its one of the few books that guys will read thats from a girls point of view, and I love how you can't really predict what's going to happen next. Twilight is one of those romantic books that really makes you want to read more. I swear its more addicting than chocolate. Stephenie Meyer all the way! WOO!!! Thumbs Up: countless!!
