Quiz - What's your money style?
DOLLAR$ and $EN$E, July 2007, by Brian Bogaert
QUIZ:
What’s Your
Money Style?
1) When you get money (allowance, pay cheque, birthday cash) you:
A. Run out to buy stuff, or do something fun as soon as possible.
B. Deposit all of it in your bank account or in the secret hiding spot in your room.
C. Put some of it in your bank account to save, put some towards something you’ve been saving up for, and use the rest to buy something right away.
2) At home and with your family you most often hear:
A. Let’s go shopping!! Aw, who cares about the price, let’s buy it anyway! It’s on sale, I’m going to buy one in every colour! We can’t afford it.
B. A penny saved is a penny earned. Save for a rainy day. Money doesn’t grow on trees.
C. Buy it if you really want or need it. Buy the one that is the best quality. Don’t buy it just because it’s on sale. We always have enough.
3) At school on Friday your friends all decide to go to the mall for burgers and a movie. They ask you to come and you think:
A. I REALLY want to go but I don’t have any money. I’m going to beg everyone I know to lend me money to go.
B. I have the money but I might need it for something else. I’m not going to go unless they do something that doesn’t cost money.
C. I can afford to go, but I don’t want to spend all my money in one night. I’m going to eat at home so I feel good about saving some money, but I’ll meet them at the movies later because I still want to have fun.
4) When you think about money in the future you think:
A. I’ll never be rich. There is just never enough.
B. Some day I’ll finally have enough money so I don’t have to worry about always saving.
C. I have no worries. There will always be more than enough money in my life. I will be wealthy!
ANSWERS!
MOSTLY A’s
CHA-CHING! You are a SPENDER!
Does this sound like you... you never have enough money, you run out of it quickly, you have a hard time saving up for stuff, sometimes you buy stuff just because it was on sale, or sometimes you buy stuff you don’t really want or need. You can be a very fun and spontaneous person, and you make quick decisions. Next time you make a purchase ask yourself: If I waited a week, would I still really want/need this, or even remember it?
MOSTLY B’s
You are a SAVER!
You always have money but you don’t like to spend it. You tend to feel bad spending money on things that aren’t a necessity. Price is the first thing you look at before you buy. People see you as a reliable person who thinks before she acts. You may have a hard time making decisions. Don’t forget about having fun... you can still save lots of money and use some to enjoy yourself. Balance is good, and you deserve it!
MOSTLY C’s
You are a BALANCED SAVER/SPENDER!
You may not know it, but you use money as a tool. Congratulations! You have money and if you run low you don’t panic. You know there will always be more than what you need. It shows up for you. People trust you and lend you money if you ask. When you make a purchase, even if you can afford it you decide if it’s a smart buy or how much it means to you. You will do well in the financial category as an adult!
