Shhh...
Money Makes
the World Go Around

Shhhh...So we understand that money is just a tool that can allow us to get and do things we want. We also know that pretty much everyone everywhere has to deal with money to some degree. The other thing about money that affects everyone is we all have certain feelings about it…and not all of them are good for us!

You have probably heard a lot of people say things related to money, wealth, and rich people and it may have gone something like this: 'Money doesn’t grow on trees.’ ‘Rich people are greedy and liars.’ ‘What do you think, I’m made of money!?’ ‘The Rich get Richer.’ These expressions are passed on from generation to generation, often by our parents, friends, teachers and other adults in our lives. Unfortunately, many of these people have never sat down to think about how they feel about money …because it isn’t always good.

How do YOU feel about money?

Most people feel about money the way their parents did. If your parents feel good about money and it doesn’t make them depressed, afraid, angry or stressed, then that’s a good indication of how you’ll feel about. If money is a difficult topic or if you heard people fighting about it all the time, it will likely be a difficult subject for you too, and you won’t always feel very good about it. Another scenario is that you may feel completely the opposite about money as your parents do, as a way to rebel against them and society. This applies to many things in our lives, but money is one subject that very few people talk about. Shhh, it’s supposed to be a secret…

It’s a SECRET!
Well my question is this …if everyone needs money, and everyone has to deal with
money, and it’s needed pretty much on a daily basis, then why is it such a secret?! Seems kind of silly to me. We don’t really learn much about it in school, lots of people don’t want to talk about it, and I don’t know about you, but I certainly didn’t have any millionaires come to my house Saturday morning to teach me about it …so how are we supposed to learn to get more money and be positive about it? It’s a fact that the only way you can make changes about something you believe in is to first figure out what you believe. So if you believe money is for rich people only, or it’s bad, or that you don’t deserve it, or it is the reason people fight …then you probably won’t ever have much of it because you may avoid it, sometimes without even knowing it . On the other hand (the money hand!) if you feel good about it and think it is easy to find and keep, and that you deserve to be rich just like other people, then you will have a lot less worry about money and it could then be plentiful in your life. And wouldn’t that be nice?

You decide how you feel about money.
So like we talked about before, money is a tool. Does it make any sense to be angry or afraid of a screwdriver? If someone hands you a hammer will you instantly give it away to someone else? Why would you want to fight with your friends about a wrench?? You can learn to take advantage and use money as you would any other tool. It can wind up being your best tool for getting many of the things you want. You can watch other people fight about it or get very afraid when they don’t have enough, and you can think in your mind that you know you will always find a way to have as much as you want. This isn’t easy at first, but it can happen for you (and gets easier the more you do it).

The idea for this article comes from a book called: Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker. I strongly recommend this book if you want to learn more about how you and others feel about money.

MONEY TIP #3

When you figure out how you feel about money, and why, you can learn to control or change that feeling and decide how money will be in your life.
