Have you ever been told that you have a ‘heart of gold’?

gold barsGold’s shiny warmth fills an environment with positive energy. Wearing gold boosts confidence, raises self esteem and can bring positive changes in your life. It’s little wonder that we are drawn to the loving, generous individuals who have a ‘heart of gold’!

Gold in the Past

Ancient Egyptians believed that the bones and skin of the Gods were made of gold. That’s why they used gold to make statues of the Gods and why they were depicted in their drawings as having golden skin. Since the pharaohs were believed to be the incarnation of a God, the Artisans often used gold for the mummy masks and cases of royalty when they died.

Melchior was one of the three wise kings, or Magi, who brought gifts to the baby Jesus at Christmas. To find Him, they followed the golden Star of Bethlehem. Melchior’s gift to Jesus was precious 23 karat gold.

Gold Now
If you wear gold jewelry or clothing, or use gold when adding decorative accents to your room, you may well attract very positive elements into your life. A pretty teacup or candle holder enhanced with decorative gold edging adds flair and a touch of class to your environment. Decorate a lampshade with gathered gold chiffon, then stitch or glue dangly gold-coloured glass beads and gold sequins along the edge for a vintage look. Wear gold sparkly sandals to add pizzaz to your summer outfit. Gold hoop earrings bring out the shine in your hair and the sparkle in your eyes.

We all know that two golden wedding bands symbolize the love, loyalty and sharing in marriage. Traditionally gold is the gift for a 50th wedding anniversary.

The colour of gold represents a person who is loyal, responsible and loves a peaceful existence. If this is your favourite colour, you may be an excellent organizer, self-motivator and a hard worker who also chooses friends who are serious about working towards a great future. You are optimistic and ambitious, working hard to achieve success.

Real Gold
By definition, “gold is a metallic element, constituting the most precious metal used as a common commercial medium of exchange”.  It is known for its yellow colour and is one of the heaviest substances known. Pure gold is soft and very easy to work with when it’s in a molten state. It can withstand heat, moisture and most corrosive materials. That is why it is so well suited for jewelry.

Have you ever worn gold jewelry to later discover dark greenish stains on your skin? Certain people react to the metals used in making jewelry. Since pure gold is so soft and easily scratched, as well as very expensive, other metals are often combined with the gold to strengthen it and to make it more affordable. It’s the addition of copper, nickel or silver that may make the stains on your skin.
