Real Girl - Kendra

Age: 15 Grade: 10 Sign: Sagittarius
Favourites: I love chocolate, fuzzy pillows, the colour green, all kinds of music, watching old Disney movies, potatoes, ribs and broccoli for dinner, ‘The OC’ on TV, and in dancing I’m really loving lyrical the best lately.
Hobbies: I like hanging out with my friends to play ‘dance dance revolution’. I also really enjoy watching movies, listening to music, being on the computer and talking on the phone.
School & Stuff: At school I’m on the senior dance team and my favourite subject is English because I really like writing stories and poetry. I have been on the honour roll in the past.
Personality: I think I’m fun and outgoing, trustworthy, very talkative and ‘random’. My friends would say the same and also that I’m a nice person and fun to be with. I’m lucky to have a supportive family that treats me really well.
Life Challenge: Nothing in particular has been a major life challenge for me, but something I consider a good challenge is being a teenager these days with unsupportive media, stereotypes and peer pressure. It’s hard to be different and unique when you’re constantly being told not to by media. It’s a huge negative influence.
Proud of: I’m proud of my dance awards, that I won a speech contest, and being in my local newspaper for “Faces of the Future” for my dancing.
It was a narrative that the teachers at my school chose me for. They knew about my passion for dancing and thought I would be a great dance teacher some day. I like how I can express my emotions into my dancing, I feel free and it’s good exercise. Dancing is something I love and has always been in my life. I recommend dance to all girls. It’s had a positive effect on me because as a competitive dancer I’m constantly at the studio so I have a lower chance of getting into drugs and alcohol. I have something to be busy with that’s way more important.
So Kendra: Eating junk food, singing in the shower, dancing of course, listening to my iPod, being on my cell phone, and wearing fuzzy socks is SO ME!
Cool Fact about Kendra: I’m so afraid of spiders and needles. Another thing most people wouldn’t know about me is that my closet is full of posters of Zach Efron from ‘High School Musical’.
Future: I want to go to university for dancing and work on cruise ships performing and getting to travel at the same time. I also want to publish a novel for young teens because I love writing. I really like working with kids so I’d like to be a dance teacher. It feels great knowing I can teach someone something really important.
Pet Peeves: It bothers me a lot when people lie or cheat. I also don’t like how some people follow celebrities, like when girls get sucked into media pressures and don’t feel good enough to be themselves.
