Meet Dayna

 

Age: 13  Grade: 9  Sign: Scorpio

Favourites: My favourite colours are green, blue and pink, my favourite food is pasta, my favourite holiday is Christmas, I love shopping and hanging with my friends, and I love  the rain at night - it puts me to sleep!

Hobbies: I do a lot of gymnastics, I play soccer and piano, and I like playing games on the computer.

School & Stuff: My favourite subjects are gym, art and music, and I was on the school soccer team in grade 8.
Personality: My friends would say I’m random, athletic, fun, and a good friend. I would agree with that.

Life Challenge: I was very shy when I was younger and I really didn’t make a lot of friends easily. I feel like I missed out on a lot of stuff like activities in and out of school and in having relationships with friends. My brother is crazy and not shy so he really helped bring me out of it. I could follow him and easily join in when he went up and talked to people. Sometimes I still feel a bit nervous or shy, but if I am I just say, “what’s the worst that can happen?”. Gradually I made more friends at school, I joined the soccer team and I was just happier. My message to other girls is, “just be you and don’t try and put on an act to impress someone in case you think they only like certain types of girls. What’s the worst that can happen?

Proud of: I’m really proud of the way I’ve handled going to gymnastics through all these years since I was four. I go four days a week for four and a half hours while still doing school work, completing projects and being able to maintain good grades. At the same time I’ve been a very successful and great gymnast. I’m also proud of my family because they’ve always been there for me in gymnastics and piano. They’ve helped me out through the hard times and been there to congratulate me through the good times. They are always there for me.

So Dayna: gymnastics and my long curly hair are so ME!

Cool Fact about Dayna: Everyone’s  name in my family starts with the letter D, even my aunts and uncles on my Mom’s side! I have a cool nationality: my Mom is from Jamaica and my Dad who is also from Jamaica has grandparents that are Chinese.Future: I have no idea yet, but if I had to choose I’d probably be an interior decorator of some sort. My Mom says I’m very organized so maybe something in organization. When I’m out of school I would love to travel to South Africa and see animals and other interesting things there.

Pet Peeves: I hate when people pat me or lean on me like a resting stand because I’m shorter than everyone else. k
