BE YOUR OWN GODDESS, June 2007, by Rose
Bast
Goddess of: fire and cats
Birthplace: Egypt
Origin: Egyptian mythology
Symbol: a cat or lioness
A.K.A.: Lady of the East, Bast, She Who Scratches
Father: Ra: God of the sun
Hobbies: Just like a cat, Bast loves to do things that she enjoys, like taking relaxing naps, and having fun. She also enjoys the feeling of having another person be dependent upon her and defending that person.
Strengths: Bast is a very protective and strong Goddess. She commonly takes people under her wing, mostly pregnant women and younger children, defending them at all costs. Because of all the people she is responsible for, Bast is very honourable and responsible. She tries to see everything in the big picture.
Challenges: Bast seems to have two extremes. She can be very kind and sort of like a big sister, but the next minute she can become defensive, cruel, and mean. She tends to snap at people without noticing it herself. Bast has some trouble trusting other people and if she is double-crossed, watch out; she'll be looking for revenge.
