ORGANIZED SHOPPING
3 STEPS to Your Perfect Wardrobe!
What’s one word that most girls love to hear? SHOPPING! It’s always fun to go to the mall, check out some cute boys and look for a new top… shoes… accessories… and hang out with your girlfriends. It can also be a time that you buy too much, or the wrong things and end up just adding more junk to your closet! Here are a few tips to keep you on track and help you make the most of your wardrobe without adding to the clutter.
1: Check What You Have Before you go shopping go through your wardrobe that you have. If you don’t love it, it doesn’t fit, or you can’t remember the last time you wore it, time to let it go. Then put likes with likes, ie: pants, shirts, skirts etc. Look at what you have and see what is missing and make a list of what you need. If you go to the mall with an idea of what you’re looking for you are less likely to buy something on impulse that you don’t really want or need.
2: Grab an Honest Friend
Shop with a friend who can be honest and help you pick things that are most flattering for YOUR body type and try everything on. Not all clothes are cut for every body type. If something doesn’t look good or doesn’t fit comfortably, don’t get it. There’s nothing wrong with your body, it’s the item that is wrong. There are tons of choices; you just need to find the one that is best for you. Only buy things that make you feel good about yourself. If you don’t love it, don’t buy it! No matter how good of a deal it is!
3: Plan Your Budget
Now that you know what you have and what you don’t have, you’re ready to go. Decide on your budget and how much you can afford to spend. Leave your debit card at home if you’re not confident in your spending habits. Only take the amount of money you are able to spend. If you find something you really like but don’t have enough, wait till the next time. You’ll have a chance to really think about whether you need it or not. Look for things that will match at least two items that you already own. You’ll get more out of your wardrobe and be happier with having different options. Think about adding accessories to jazz up an outfit. Again, make sure they’ll go with more than one outfit!
Re-evaluate your wardrobe each season and you’ll find that your closet stays tidier and you’ll have even more options for what to wear!
Happy Shopping!
