Dear Melissa,
Me and my BFF want to do bright pink streaks in our hair like some girls have. Well, my friend wants purple. How do we do it ourself? My hair is dark brown and hers is like blondish-red.
~ Kim and Janine, Des Moines, Iowa

Hi Kim and Janine!
Hair colour is a lot of fun, although, achieving the bright pink and purple that you want requires proper knowledge in lightening and hair colouring... especially with dark hair like yours or reddish hair like your friend's. To avoid mishaps and to have your hair done right, it's best to leave it in the hands of a professional. However, there is an easy do-it-yourself option. You can purchase clip-in hair extensions at your local beauty supply store. They come in all different colours, lengths and price points depending if you buy synthetic or human hair. The best part is that they won’t grow out and you can share them. If you buy pink and your friend buys purple you can switch or interchange them! After wearing them for a while you can decide if you love it enough to make it permanent. If so, make an appointment with your local salon! Have fun!!

Dear Julia,
How do I wear blush? Some people say put it on your apples (which I don't even know where my apples are - isn't that the thing in your neck when you talk??!) and some people say along the line of your cheek bone. What's the expert way?
~ Julie C, North York ON

Dear Julie C,
Blush is a great way to enhance a healthy, natural glow onto your cheeks. There are so many different ways to apply blush depending on the shape of your face or the look you are going for. First, select a small to medium sized blush brush
to make it easy to blend, and so you won't put on too much. Want to know where your 'apples' are? Smile! See the round areas just below your eyes? Those are your apples. Start by applying onto the apples and then blend in a downward stroke motion toward the highest point of the cheekbone. Be cautious to avoid having a harsh line so instead you achieve a rounded, soft, blended effect. Experiment with different colours and shades that go with your skin tone. The goal is to look naturally flushed. Good luck!
