Real Girl: Amelia
Age: 14 Grade: 9 Sign: Gemini
Favourites: My favourite colours are pink, purple, green and light blue. I love fun and upbeat music to dance to and my favourite foods are pizza, cookie dough and Iced Cappuccinos at Tim Horton’s. I love the show ‘American Idol’ and summer is my favourite season.
Hobbies: I like to play tennis, hang out with my friends, go shopping, travel, ride my bike, spend time with my Nana and Papa, take pictures, draw and chat on line with my friends.
School & Stuff: I’m fluent in French, I’m on the year book committee, I like some math, art and gym, but my favourite is lunch and recess! I’m really looking forward to high school in September and how different it will be with changing classes and having a locker.
Personality: My friends would say I’m kind and caring, funny, chatty, bubbly and outgoing. I would agree and add that I’m thoughtful.
Life Challenge: It can be a challenge believing in myself and who I am with media and peer pressure sometimes. I think it’s important to not let anyone change who I am. I want to just be myself and make good decisions. I’m lucky because I have lots of support from friends and family and I have good morals and know what’s right.
Proud of: I am most proud that in grade seven I got chosen to go to France with 25 other students and experience new cultures, I was accepted because I wrote a 300 word essay about how I would benefit from the experience. I am also proud that I have such a close family. My sister is 11 years old and is my best friend.
So Amelia: Everyone says I talk really fast and I’m always smiling. That and chewing gum and goofing around are so ME!
Cool Fact about Amelia: In grade two I won the Air Canada Jazz Contest. My picture of what made my community special was chosen along with 8 others in Ontario. They flew my family to Toronto for a ceremony where we had lunch and met Lynn Johnson, the author of ‘For Better or Worse’, who gave me a signed copy of her new book. I was presented with a watch and my picture (which is 10x12) was framed and hung in the new airport terminal for a year!
Future: I don’t really know yet exactly what I would like to do, but I have lots of interests. I might like to be a teacher, maybe for tennis or something else. I enjoy experimenting with outfits and making new styles, so maybe a career in fashion.
Pet Peeve: I hate it when people bite their nails!
