Real Girl: Bahar

Age: 17 Grade: 12 Sign: Aries
Favourites: My favourite colours are black, purple and turquoise, my favourite band is the ‘Red Hot Chili Peppers’, my favourite TV show is ‘House’, I love French toast, hamburgers and coffee, my favourite season is summer, I love to travel places and my favourite place to travel to is San Francisco.
Hobbies: I’m really into fashion design and I even make some of my own clothes. I like to read; mostly fantasy novels, and for fun I enjoy hanging out with my Mom, watching movies with my friends, and spending time with my boyfriend, Aidan.
School & Stuff: My favourite subjects are French, Biology, Chemistry, and Writer’s Craft. I am president of the Biology Club and I’m in the Chemistry and French clubs. I have been on the honour roll every semester since 9th grade, and in 6th grade I won an award for top marks in the whole school. Last year I ran for student council in grade 11, I was on the Improv Team and have always been involved in school plays.
Personality: My friends would say I’m really outgoing, friendly, goofy and that I make a lot of really corny jokes! I would also say that I’m a good listener, I give good advice and make people laugh.
Life Challenge: When I was around 7-9 my parents were going through a challenging time that ended in a separation. It was a difficult time at home and it affected me a lot. I tried not to let it interfere with school and tried to stay cheerful and happy. It was really hard, but in the end it all worked out. I live with my Mom now, who is my idol and my best friend. We get along and have a lot of fun together. I enjoy spending time at home with her because she really makes me happy. We take life just seriously enough to be able to succeed and get far, but we’re also light-hearted enough to have fun and not be stressed. My message to other girls going through their parents separation or divorce is to know that it’s not your fault. They love you and in the end they want what’s best for you, even if they are fighting. If you live with just one parent try your best to help them out. They’re doing the work of two parents and are trying their best.
Proud of: I’m proud of the fact that I didn’t get caught up in a lot of high school peer pressure and that I managed to keep a job for the entire year while balancing gifted courses and 2 advanced grade 12 courses last year. I spent a lot of time studying, prioritizing and paying attention in class all the time. It took a lot of hard work but was worth it. Since I did extra last year it’s so much more calm this year!
So Bahar: Greeting everyone with a hug, making nerdy science jokes all the time, wearing boots all year round, laughing at everything is so me!
Cool Fact about Bahar: I went to Montreal for three weeks all by myself this summer and took a French course. I’m still alive, so that’s a good thing, plus I’m now fluent in French. You could say I’m now trilingual because I also speak Persian. I’ve written and directed 2 plays and starred in four. I’m a total drama geek!
Future: I’m going to University to study life sciences, and in the future I want to become an orthodontist so I can give people happy smiles.
Pet Peeves: I hate it when people are late or when they lie for no reason.
