Real Girl: Evelyn

Evelyn

Age: 13 Grade: 8 Sign: Aries

Faves: My favorite colour is pink. I love ice cream sandwiches. My favorite place is the mall or the movie theatre. My favorite genres of music are Pop, hip hop, R&B and indie and Lady GaGa is one of my favorite artists; I really like her music. My favorite TV shows are ‘Everybody Hates Chris’, ‘Simpsons’, ‘What Not to Wear’ and ‘Videoflow’. I love Christmastime and I always love to do sleepovers with my friends.

Hobbies: I love listening to music on my iPod, drawing, and reading a good book. Some people would describe my clothing style as 'timeless classic', and others would say that I'm a girly girl. I love fashion and doing my hair and makeup.

School and Stuff: I go to a French Immersion school and some of my favorite subjects are Science (I love doing experiments), Drama, Art, English writing, English literature and Phys Ed. I don’t really care about going to high school and being in grade 9 next year, but I am a bit nervous and excited. It’ll be different, probably more work, but I’ll have more freedom and I won’t have to be around the little kids.

Personality: People would often say that I'm a quiet and individual person. I always think that once I really get to know some people I can be very loud, and I love being around my friends.

Life Challenge: I like playing certain sports like basketball and volleyball, and I love running. During gym class, my teacher told me I should try out for volleyball. Even though I thought to myself that I wasn't as good at it as people thought I was, I decided I might as well give it a shot. When I didn't make the team, I was at first sad and a bit disappointed, but I was also proud that I at least tried. My teacher said she was happy that I tried out and tried my best, so I have learned that even though you think you might not succeed at something, all that matters is the fact you took the chance and did the very best you could do at it. My message to other girls is to not let failures bug you. Focus on the future and you can try again!

Proud of: My teacher has told me that I have a talent in writing and that I should take Advanced placement for English in high school. Writing essays, stories and poems comes naturally for me and I really enjoy writing.

So Evelyn: Fashion, doing my hair and makeup, reading great books, IM'ing with my friends, watching TV, playing with my hair, chewing gum, not being a morning person, being a twin, and being tall (5’11’) are soooo me!

Cool fact about Evelyn: One of my favorite things to do is Movie night on Fridays. My family will all get a few snacks and sit together to watch movies (usually horror movies) because my sister and I like them a lot.

Future: This coming March Break I'm excited about traveling to Florida to see my cousins there. I might even stay a few nights at Disney World! Since I'm in grade 8 I'll be going to high school next year, which I can't wait for! For the first time, Summer break is going to seem like it's so long!

Pet Peeves: It really makes me shudder when I see people scraping the frost off bus windows with their finger nails.
