Real Girl: Taylor
Age: 12 Grade: 7 Sign: Gemini
Favourites: My favourite thing in the world is swimming and synchronized swimming. I love playing sports (basketball and soccer), shopping, and listening to hip hop music. My favourite season is spring, my favourite colours are pink and purple, and my favourite comfort food is Italian! I love the TV shows ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and ‘America’s Got Talent’.
Hobbies: Playing sports and shopping with my friends.
School & Stuff: My favourite subjects are math and science. Last year I was on the school basketball and volleyball teams but I missed out on being on the swim team because of a broken arm. I was on the student council for 2 years and last year when
we were raising funds for the dance we also brought in socks for the homeless.
Personality: My friends would say that I’m funny and helpful. I’m always willing to help a friend in need and I love to share my things. I can be loud when I’m laughing and having fun, and I can also be shy and lack confidence at times; like when I’m starting a new day not knowing what will happen. For the things I believe in, I’ll always speak up, and I definitely stand up for my friends.
Life Challenge: I struggle with my sister being better at most sports than me, so I have to remind myself that I have my own talents, like swimming, and that I have to stay focused on what my own strengths are. Another challenge is trying not to get caught up in the politics of girls being mean to each other. Some girls are bossy, so I try to do my own thing to avoid it. I got left out in the past a few times so I ended up spending time alone and it made me feel upset and sad. I learned that we are all equal and not one girl is better than another. Taking sides and being mean to each other hurts and we should try to be nice to everyone. If people aren’t nice back then just walk away and choose other friends. It was hard going through it, but I feel good about it now.
Proud of: I’m proud that in June I received the ‘student of the year’ award at my synchronized swimming club. Even though I broke my arm and missed six weeks, I still competed in the show and in the end I won the award.
So Taylor: Being clumsy, falling/tripping, walking my dogs, dancing and singing in my room with the door closed, playing loud music, wearing a ponytail, hanging out with friends, always sleeping in, and always saying ‘so’ is so me!
Cool Fact about Taylor: I broke my arm 4 times, twice on each side! I have a younger sister named Krysten and 2 dogs named Ginger and Rosebud.
Future: I’d like to attend the University of Guelph to become a veterinarian,
and I also hope to travel to Calgary to visit my friend Thaba, and to Texas to visit my
cousin Lori.
Pet Peeve: People who talk about others behind their backs, and chewing with your mouth open.
